Impact of Climate Change on Cereal Crop Production: Current Trends and Future Challenges

ABSTRACT
Climate change is increasingly affecting cereal crop production through rising temperatures, altered rainfall patterns, drought, floods, and increasing pest and disease pressures. This abstract reviews current trends and future challenges associated with climate-induced changes in major cereal crops, including wheat, rice, maize, and barley. Temperature and moisture stresses can reduce crop growth, yield, grain quality, and nutritional value, threatening global food security. Adaptive approaches such as climate-resilient varieties, precision agriculture, improved irrigation, conservation agriculture, integrated nutrient management, and stresstolerant cropping systems offer promising solutions. Future research should prioritize sustainable technologies, resilient farming systems, and integrated climate adaptation strategies to ensure stable cereal production under changing environmental conditions.
